Why a lamp
This singular branch was given to me by my grandmother, but what to do with it? The Shou Sugi Ban technique, at the heart of this creation, connecting it with the light that burned it, eventually seemed to be a natural choice. So here is a burning lamp illuminating the past burns of the wood.
Shou Sugi Ban
The Japanese method involves burning the wood on one of its faces to increase its resistance. Chialing Chang, a Taiwanese designer, learned this technique during a collaboration with the studio OROS. This collaboration was a source of reflection in the creation of this object.
